1962 Fender Stratocaster Fiesta Red Vintage Guitar
Back in the 70’s after my first vintage guitar a Black 1962 Stratocaster was stolen from me by what at that time was a close friend, i thought, Alan Cooper, he left town never to be seen again, and now years later we all know what a 1962 Black strat is worth
The strat would be easy to recognise as it had a square chunk of wood cut out of the body hidden under the pick gaurd, just below the bridge and middle pickup, it had 3 toggle switches mounted in the pickgaurd and this wood was cut out to allow space for the switches to sit under the gaurd, obviously the previous owner did this before 5 way switches were around, so lift up the gaurd and if there is a square chunk of wood cut out of the body it might be my old 62 black strat, serial 1521
Anyway I went to the owner ( Barry ) of a very successful music store Barry Farrells music in brookvale , Barry offered to bring me a nice Fender Stratocaster in from the USA on one of his buying trips, back then there was no internet and no nice vintage guitar strats around for sale ( they were not vintage back then )
so I got my insurance money from the stolen black stratocaster and Barry went on his trip to the usa, here are a few pics of the vintage guitar a 1962 fiesta red stratocaster, Barry bought me back from the usa in the mid 70’s , its not perfect but to me sounds better than most vintage guitar strats I have owned over 40 plus years
but i guess that’s just me and sentimental reasons, but i gigged it for 30 years and i owned many Strats , 50’s les pauls, 50’s Blackgaurds teles, during that time that were way more valuable or collectable, but just stayed with old faithful 62 fiesta, and as you would expect is not for sale ever……
