Product Description
Vintage guitar, Gibson Les Paul Goldtop , 1955 all gold model
This guitar is totally stock, no breaks or repairs, some dings, dents here and there as you would expect on a guitar that’s 68 years old, its Still fitted with the 50s small original fret wire with plenty of meat left, There is obviously noticeable wear is to the back of neck, which is typical of all-gold Gibsons, the usual greening to the topcoat on rear of neck from contact with the player’s hand.
The gold color overall is very strong without much fade at all , the top as you can see is really nice, many of these goldtops get that ugly horizontal heavy craze lines that go dark over time and spoil the look of the top, this guitars top looks really clean a bit of green and wear on the top edge but overall you can see it very nice,
The two P-90 pickups and all wiring rig components are all original including the waxy Grey Tiger capacitor. The plating on top of the tailpiece is still shiny and clean. The original Kluson Deluxe machines still work well and show no shrinkage to tuner buttons. This is a fantastic sounding vintage guitar, and a great example of why players fell in love with Gibson’s original solid body in the first place. Includes the original Brown hard case
These vintage guitars are very undervalued, the guitar market like most things took a dive when the GFC hit around 2007, but vintage guitars are a extremely good investment and these Goldtops were selling for much more before the crash, but if your in the guitar world you know they are creeping back up again and you just wont find a better goldtop at this price,
Now i know everyone says the guitar they are selling sounds great, but really i have had a few very high end guitarist play this and a major vintage guitar dealer also, and all said same this is a beast it has balls , without me saying anything all said its a beauty
If your in Australia do the math try getting a original 50’s goldtop out from the usa with all the tax’s and shipping and RISK of is it the real deal, and will it arrive in one piece, its not going to happen, and its just not guitar dealers or private collectors like myself collecting or selling these guitars, Auction houses are doing major auctions now and all kinds of people are now buying vintage guitars for play and investment.
Guitars creeping up in value and in 5 years or more you will see and maybe ask yourself why didn’t I buy back then…..I been there learnt my lesson, I remember when you could pickup a killer 53 blackguard tele for 7k, now try finding a clean one under 50k , or way back in my collecting years the 50’s goldtops were 5k,
Same with all high end factory stock , thats the clue they have to be original examples, vintage Fenders and Gibsons rock solid investment and very cool guitars…..
